One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to change the entire look and feel of a room is with a fresh coat of paint. But choosing a paint color that is right for your space from the endless number of color options can be quite daunting.

1. Rooted in Nature
The paint trends leaning toward neutrals continue to shape our spaces, proving to us that nature is never far away. Paints with bronze tones are the perfect example. This color has a unique and organic quality that brings warmth to any room.
Warm, earth-toned colors tend to bring an inviting coziness to any space. Choosing a nature-inspired paint color can bring instant hominess to your room. Picking color swatches reminiscent of the great outdoors makes for a soothing home atmosphere.
2. Countless Shades of Gray
There are literally countless shades of grey, making this color widely versatile and popular when it comes to decorating your home. This natural color retains earth tones while adding quite a bit of character. At first glance, it may seem like nothing too special, but gray actually carries a surprising amount of depth. It is the perfect color to accent your darker cabinets or wood floors.
To give your home a calmer look, putting gray and white together is always a winner. This look is especially popular in kitchens and can be dressed up for a more contemporary look or dressed down to give your home a more rugged or modern farmhouse look.
3. Baby Blues
Light blue paint is very calming and easy on the eyes. It’s a no brainer choice if you want to set the mood for a relaxing bedroom, bathroom, or living space. Blue shades can make your room feel airy and maybe even larger and brighter than it actually is.
If you want to incorporate color into your bathroom design, look no further than a shade of blue. The color of water seems to be a natural fit for a room built around its role. Blue tones are relaxing and soothing and never seem to go out of style.
Blue shades are some of my personal favorites. For years my master bedroom was a warm yellow, somewhat on the golden scale and I loved it. But after a decade or so, I was definitely ready for a change and there was no question what color direction I would go in. After sifting through several different shades of blue I settled on a soft robin egg. My furniture and trim are white with dark cherry accents which add a beautiful dimension to the room. Going from a warm yellow to a cool blue was a drastic change but I’ve really enjoyed the calming color.
4. Vibrant Vibes
Vibrant colors are energetic, bright, and enhance the personality of a room. Whether you want to add cheer to your kitchen or make your powder room more upbeat, vibrant tones are sure to add some extra sparkle.
Coral is becoming one of the top paint colors of the year. A slightly muted coral tone can be timeless, sophisticated, and fun all at the same time. Merigold, tangerine, teal, and purple are also part of this exciting vibrant family. If you are worried about these bold colors dominating your space, try pairing them with black accents or stark white trim. These vibrant tones work wonders as accent walls to spice up any room.
Pairing vibrant colors can be a tad scary but bold moves usually pay off. A close friend paired a soft coral with a teal for her entire kitchen. It might sound risky but the finished product looked great! It transformed her kitchen into a beautifully unique space, resembling an ice cream parlor. Her vision turned out successfully but took some risk.
5. Bold Black and White
Using black and white in your decorating can create a stunning and dramatic effect. Using the color black adds a focal point of color that grounds, anchors, and adds sophistication to a room. Pairing black and white gives a clean, fresh, and elegant look to any space.
If it seems a little scary to stick with just black and white, consider adding a touch of variety by using red, yellow, pink, or purple to add a striking look. Be sure to keep black and white as the dominant colors in the room to preserve the look of elegance.
